Urfan A. Dar, M.D.

Dr. Dar is a fellowship-trained, board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician. He is a renowned physician with a distinguished career, practicing in San Antonio for nearly 30 years.

Dr. Dar started his career in medicine at the University of Kashmir, and soon moved to the United States of America to build a better life for himself and his family. His anesthesiology training at Texas Tech University exposed him to the field of interventional pain medicine, leading him to pursue a fellowship training year at the same institution. Under the mentorship of the esteemed Gabor Racz,  a globally recognized authority in the field of pain medicine, he developed his interventional pain management skills that he continues to use today to help his patients. Following in his mentor’s footsteps, Dr. Dar has developed a reputation in the South Texas region as an excellently skilled pain doctor by both his physician peers and patients alike.

Dr. Dar has been practicing privately in San Antonio since 1994, where he has established himself as one of the region’s foremost experts in the treatment of chronic pain and cancer-related pain conditions. His practice emphasizes the use of advanced, cutting-edge techniques to address complex pain conditions. Dr. Dar has won many accolades and awards and has been featured in many publications, including Becker’s ASC ‘Top Physicians in the Country’ and ‘Industry Leaders to Know.’

Dr. Dar acquired a new boutique pain practice in 2023, Spine Care of San Antonio, to continue to provide individualized and quality care to his patients where he currently serves as CEO. In 2024, Dr. Dar along with Dr. Vasireddy and Dr. Mithani rebranded Spine Care to Vertex Pain Physicians.
